Michael Lewis

Principal Physiotherapist

Originally from Newcastle, Michael, our latest Practice Principal, moved to the Illawarra 10 years ago to study Exercise Science at the University of Wollongong. After his undergraduate degree, he progressed into a Masters of Science by research. Michael worked for UOW as a human performance scientist and performed research for the NSW Fire Brigade and Defence Science and Technology Organisation. He then completed his Masters of Physiotherapy at Sydney University and is interested in combining his clinical physiotherapy with his love of research. Michael has lectured in Exercise Science programs for the Victoria University and currently tutors at UOW. This has given him a great knowledge of exercise prescription.

Formerly a representative track cyclist Michael still loves cycling. He is currently involved in coaching competitive cyclists and has a Masters of Strength and Conditioning. He also has a special interest in Real-Time Ultrasound (RTUS) for the assessment and management of Men’s health issues such as pre and post prostate surgery.

Michael is also currently the Head Physiotherapist for Wests Illawarra Rugby League team.
