Introducing Our Team

U Physiotherapy & Clinical Pilates Wollongong (42437077), and it's sister Practice in Unanderra (42715648), employ a great team of Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists, Pilates Instructors and a Massage Therapist who are ably supported by the Administration Team. All of our Health Professionals have extensive training in their field of expertise and work together to provide a comprehensive, safe and thoroughly effective range of treatments.

Sue Barker, U Physiotherapy WollongongSue Barker

Principal Physiotherapist

Sue has been an owner in the practice for over 20 years. She really enjoys seeing the familiar faces coming back to the practice. Sue has had a very diverse career which has included lecturing in anatomy, working at the Sydney Olympics and teaching Clinical Pilates to physiotherapists both nationally and internationally. Sue has been appointed as one of only four specialist reservist physiotherapists with the Royal Australian Air Force. Now a Flight Lieutenant, she has recently completed her rifle training and now everyone does their home work exercises! She has provided sports coverage for the British Air Force Rugby team and the International Defence Force Cricket Challenge. She toured South Africa with the Samoan Rugby team and New Zealand with RAAF cricket. Over her professional life Sue has, and continues, to complete a wide variety of courses which provides her with many different treatment options and allows the best possible approach to your care. She enjoys the challenge of complex and chronic problems and has a special interest in the sacro-iliac joint, hypermobility and fibromyalgia.


Conrad Hartogh, U Physiotherapy WollongongConrad Hartogh

Physiotherapist

Conrad came to Australia, originally from Cape Town, South Africa, just to see what it is like on this side of the world. Hs initial plans were to stay for just 1 year... that was 7 1/2 years ago!

Conrad holds dual qualifications in Human Movement and Physiotherapy. He believes in a dynamic approach to rehabilitation and incorporates comprehensive exercise programs in his treatment plans where appropriate.

As a Physiotherapist, Conrad has held many positions in his career including working for the South African Department of Health, DeBeers Consolidated Mines, as well as running his own private practice before moving to Australia.

Conrad enjoys working with local sports clubs and teams, travel and meeting new people who share similar interests.

He also has a particular interest in dry needling having completed advanced training in therapeutic techniques to augment his manual therapy skills. Conrad has recently decided to have another midlife crisis and bought himself a motorcycle, which he intends to use to see more of the beautiful country we live in. Conrad also likes doing the usual things that other people like doing - swimming, going to gym watching movies - though he is yet to refine his liking of reading for leisure!


Casey Williams

Physiotherapist

 

Casey is currently working with international sporting teams - she will return to work mid July 2019!  Look out for when she is available for appointment.

After growing up in New Zealand Casey moved to Australia in 2006 where she completed her Bachelor of Exercise Science at Wollongong University (2010) and Masters of Physiotherapy at Sydney University (2012). Casey spent her graduate year working as a physiotherapist for the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District in multiple areas including cardiopulmonary, neurological, musculoskeletal physiotherapy and rehabilitation. Since then she has been working in private practice for over 4 years, treating a wide variety of musculoskeletal and sporting injuries. Casey has been the physiotherapist for the Illawarra Steelers junior rep teams, NSW U16’s and Women’s State of Origin teams as well as the NSW Country Colts. Casey has a special interest in the treatment and management of sporting injuries and post-operative rehabilitation.


Mikaela Heilman

Physiotherapist

Mikaela joined us in February 2018.  She grew up in Cowra and was very active in competitive sports.  Having spent many sessions with the local physio she decided to become one !

Mikeala is a qualified Personal and Sports Trainer and this has enabled her to gain invaluable experience with the Illawarra Cutters and St George Illawarra Dragons.

She is also a qualified Pilates Instructor and her skill set makes for great classes.

Mikeala is very excited to meet and help all the patients that make up the family that is U Physio.

Aside from working at the clinic you'll find her on the beach, playing touch football or eating her body weight in food!


Karlie Picton

Exercise Physiologist    

Karlie is the Exercise Physiologist at our Wollongong Practice.

In 2018, Karlie graduated with 1st place from the University of Wollongong with a Bachelor of Science & Rehabilitation.

Karlie thoroughly enjoys practicing what she preaches - which is living a health and active lifestyle! Her sporting background is competitive swimming, having competed at both NSW and Australian level competitions.  She also continues to enjoy playing and watching a number of other sports including netball, soccer, waterpolo and snowboarding.

Karlie specialises in using exercise for the management of chronic health conditions.  She has a particularly keen interest in neurological conditions, Type 2 Diabetes and falls prevention programs. Karlie is also a certified Clinical Pilates Instructor, running many of our weekly small group classes.


Elaine

Practice Manager    

Elaine is our Practice Manager and working at both our  Wollongong and Unanderra locations certainly keeps her on her toes!

She is a "tragic"Manly Sea Eagles Rugby League fan - but we still let her work here amongst the Eels, Tigers and Dragons supporters! In her downtime she also enjoys watching and reading thillers and detective stories and attempts to use up her energy by going to the gym!

 


Lisa

Receptionist       

Lisa is a happy go lucky person who always prides herself on her people skills, she has valuable experience in business and administration, as she ran her own business for 20 years. She has now worked in the Physiotherapy field for over 11 years.

Lisa is an animal lover, having worked with farm animals for over 8 years, has a dog called Bells and a cat called Mushki. Her interests are keeping fit and martial arts.

Lisa has a daughter who is a veterinary nurse and a son who has is an airline pilot.


Lara

Receptionist     

Lara is the newest addition to the U Physio team. Lara comes from a strong customer service background having worked as a Receptionist for a busy medical specialist and also as a barista and waitress.  She loves working in a busy environment - so she has come to the right place!

Having completed a communications degree Lara loves all things pop culture and media.  When she's not at work Lara is a self-confessed homebody who loves spending time with her husband and puppy Ari.
